Imagine an elopement in the mountains of Fuerteventura… Where the wind carries your wedding vows into the air, spinning them around and spreading them across the land and sea… Where a setting sun creates the most special light… Where the dark mountains emphasize the white color of your wedding dress… This was the kind of elopement Camilla and Enri were dreaming of.
Some of Camilla’s family members live in Fuerteventura, and she and her fiancé try to visit them as often as possible. With each visit, this beautiful island became a second home, and over time they dreamed of a elopement that was as pure and sincere as the island itself. To my great surprise, they had not yet visited the secret corners of the island. So I asked them if they could tell me 3 important things their wedding venue should have?
Accompanied by sweet giggles and happy smiles, they told me that their little paradise must be:
1) somewhere in the mountains
2) in a remote location
3) but not too difficult to reach in a wedding dress
‘But keep it a secret from us, Annette’, Camilla replied with a twinkle in her eye.
I had received a wild cart… I was proud that I had the honor of choosing the wedding location all by myself. (Of course, this photographer/wedding planner is also secretly a location hunter.) Camilla had described her wedding dress to me and I had this ready-made picture in my head of a white train floating in a romantic mountain breeze in Fuerteventura.
It was a beautiful, precious and intimate ceremony. My favorite moment was when they exchanged rings. That hit me right in the heart. (and my camera) The photos were amazing. When you think about it, people in love make a mountain landscape even more beautiful than it already is.
